About the Group Name
gugudan (구구단) in Korean literally translates to multiplication table. Before debut, Jellyfish stated the official meaning of the group name is nine girls with nine charms. Keeping in mind the meaning of gugudan, each member has their own assigned numbers and symbols.

Another meaning: gugudan is a wordplay of the Korean word geug-dan (극단) meaning theater. Every comeback will be like a play (notice how they always have act numbers on their albums) and their concepts are based on different works of literature and/or art.
